Uncle Joe Shay (Joseph J. Shay, Ph.D.) Geez, Art Scherr and I were just talking about the great Shay Brothers at lunch today and up pops Uncle Joe's post on the Guestbook. Welcome home, Uncle Joe. Joe Shay, Ph.D., who received his A.B. from the University of Chicago in 1969, is a psychologist who was most recently Director of Psychological Services and Training for 10 years at a private clinic in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He has been on the staff of the joint McLean Hospital/ Massachusetts General Hospital training program for 30 years, and is an Instructor in Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School. He is on the faculty of the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy the Psychoanalytic Couple and Family Institute of New England, and the Center for Group Psychotherapy at MGH. He has co-edited, with Dr. Joan Wheelis, Odysseys in Psychotherapy (2000), and co-edited, with Lise Motherwell, Complex Dilemmas in Group Therapy (2005). Dr. Shay has also joined Scott Rutan and Walter Stone to author the 4th edition of Psychodynamic Group Psychotherapy (2007). "This is a genuine honor for me.
